Over the last 12 months the team behind the International Maternity Expo have been scouring the globe in order to recognise and celebrate the very finest examples of maternity care, research and best practice.

We were delighted to receive hundreds of submissions from all over the world, leaving our expert panel of judges (listed here) with the incredibly tough task of whittling down so many worthy nominations to our final shortlist of 46 nominees spread across 15 award categories.

The winners of the inaugural International Maternity Expo Awards will be announced at a glitzy awards ceremony on the evening of Tuesday 12th November>.

England’s first Chief Midwifery Officer, Professor Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent, will also be on hand at the ceremony to award a special Gold Award recognising lifetime achievement in midwifery.

The ceremony will be filmed and streamed live online allowing nominees from around the world to participate in the celebration.

Discussing the judging process for the awards Professor Lesley Page said:

“We’ve just had the most amazing morning looking at those who have been nominated for awards, and the stories have been absolutely inspiring. It’s been very difficult to make a decision but we hope that you are going to be there on the 12th and 13th November to see who has won and help celebrate this wonderful work.”

Dr Sheena Byrom OBE, Director of All4Maternity and co-host of the International Maternity Expo said:

“I’ve been part of the decision making this morning around the awards for the IME 2019. It’s been exciting and also very humbling because we’ve read the most amazing stories from midwives, obstetricians, service users and just incredible people really that are doing inspirational work, so it’s exciting and we are dying to know who has won.”
