The School of Allied Health Professions at the University of Leicester runs an innovative four-year undergraduate Master in Science (MSci) Midwifery with Leadership degree utilising the expertise of academics from the profession as well as the School of Business. This the first programme of its kind in the country, and has been developed as a partnership between the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and the University of Leicester. This degree puts leadership at the heart of the curriculum where students are not only mentored by experienced clinical midwives to learn the fundamental midwifery skills and professional values to become a safe, competent and confident midwife, but also by experienced leaders in the NHS and the wider midwifery profession. Students graduate with a clear pathway for an accelerated career into midwifery leadership roles in the NHS and the wider profession.
