Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a major cause myocardial infarction in pregnancy and the postpartum period. It cannot be predicted or prevented and is currently under recognised. The diagnosis should be considered in all parturient and postpartum patients with acute coronary syndrome.

Beat SCAD is a patient-led charity that aims to support SCAD patients and their families, raise awareness of SCAD and raise funds for research into the condition. Our mission is threefold: Awareness, Support and Research.

Raising awareness of SCAD among those working in maternity services, GPs and health visitors is a key aim of the charity.
