Usha Daniel is a Registered Advanced Midwife Practitioner at the National Maternity Hospital, Holles street Dublin-2, Ireland.
I have completed my BSc nursing degree from Rajasthan university, Jaipur & Master’s degree in Midwifery from university of Delhi, India. I have done specialization in diabetes in UCD, Nurse prescribing & advanced midwife practitioner course from RCSI, Ireland. I have a vast experience in the field of clinical nursing / midwifery and education of nursing / midwifery.
In Ireland, my professional career began as an R.N., R.M. – staff midwife, progressed to Clinical Midwife Specialist–diabetes , and now Registered Advanced Midwife Practitioner in diabetes in pregnancy. I am responsible for the holistic care of the women with diabetes in pregnancy: pre-existing diabetes or diabetes developed in pregnancy- Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM).
As an educationist, I have worked as a senior lecturer, lecturer, and nurse tutor, internal, external examiner of various nursing /midwifery certificate, diploma, & degree programs. I have also served as an inspector of Rajasthan Nursing Council & a curriculum committee member of BSc nursing programme, Rajasthan university, Jaipur, India.
In Ireland, I am involved in education of diploma & degree programmes students in UCD, in-service education of midwives /nurses via CME.
As a clinician, I conduct education & health promotion sessions for the women with diabetes / couple i.e. pre pregnancy planning, antenatal, intra-natal & postnatal care, Insulin pump education, and “Lifestyle Intervention for selfcare management of GDM”, and follow up preventative care, and breast feeding promotion.
