Assistant Professor/Lecturer in Midwifery

Lorraine Carroll is an Assistant Professor/Lecturer in Midwifery at the UCD School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems, and a registered midwife, nurse and tutor. She is a TCD graduate with a bachelor’s degree in midwifery (TCD, 2004), a master’s by research (MSc, 2008) (TCD) and is currently a part-time PhD student with TCD School of Nursing and Midwifery. Her doctoral research investigates risk factors and pregnancy, birth and neonatal outcomes associated with reduced fetal movements in pregnancy. Additional research interests include perineal management and repair, physiological birth, fetal monitoring and the education of midwifery students. Lorraine also has over fifteen years’ clinical midwifery experience.
