Ciara Kirwan is Assistant Professor/Lecturer in Midwifery at the UCD School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems and is the director of the higher diploma in midwifery programme.
She is a UCD graduate with a bachelor’s degree in nursing (UCD, 2006) and also a higher diploma in midwifery (UCD, 2009).
She has completed a masters in midwifery-led care (UCD, 2013) and also a graduate certificate in healthcare education (UCD, 2015).
She is a registered midwife (RM), registered nurse (RN) and a registered tutor (RNT) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
Ciara is a member of the Joint Research Network between University College Dublin and the National Maternity Hospital and co-principal investigator of the ‘Perineal Management Study: Exploring Midwives Clinical Practice and Professional Development’ which was funded by the Nursing and Midwifery Planning and Development Unit.
