Centred birth, hypnobirthing classes and preparing for birth during COVID

It has been challenging for pregnant women and birthing people over the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. As we know many resources were cut, including face-to-face preparation for birth groups.

In this talk, “A lot more anxious and a lot more lonely” vs “more empowered: centred birth hypnobirthing classes and preparing for birth during COVID-19”, Alys Einion-Waller, Associate Professor of Midwifery at Swansea University, presents results from a recent research study. She explains the Centred Birth model classes and how they were adapted to an online format.

Alys presents details of the research and the findings around participants experiences. In particular its showed there was positive impact on preparing for birth, but there was perceived lack of peer social support and still fear of birth during the pandemic.
