About Andrew Dixon
I have been a regular user of massage therapies throughout my life. I found massage to be beneficial for many reasons including relaxation, sports injury recovery and to promote positive mental health and well being. I have always had a keen interest in the mechanics and systems of the body.I have worked in previous roles within the private and public health care settings. I am a strong believer that complementary therapies play a vital role working alongside allopathic health care to maintain well-balanced physical and mental health.
My journey to becoming a therapist began when I was recommended reflexology by a friend. I found it a very effective therapy for my own sleep issues, giving me great relief from my insomnia and contributing to positive well being. I became fascinated in the theories of reflexology and its use as a therapeutic practice. My interest in complimentary therapies evolved quickly, becoming aware that the path to training as a holistic therapist is where my future lay.
When looking for suitable training on my journey to becoming a therapist I looked to acquiring the highest available certification in this field. I undertook my study in complementary therapy with “ The Complementary Therapy School” whose training is credit rated by Edinburgh Napier University.
Throughout this 2 year course there was a strong practical emphasis placed on training which included a comprehensive understanding of anatomy and physiology. It has given me invaluable knowledge and skills to excel as a therapist. I also gained skills in tailoring treatments to match the client. This includes acupressure reflexology, advanced massage, advanced reflexology techniques, and counselling skills among with many other business skills required as a therapist.
I have continued my professional development with the completion of a Practitioners Diploma in Hot & Cold Stone Therapy. This has been an excellent addition to the skills and services I can offer my clients.
