Family Support Service Officer for the Highlands, Islands and Moray
Down’s Syndrome Scotland
Shona is the Family Support Service Officer for Downs Syndrome Scotland covering the Highlands, Islands, Moray and Orkney providing “all through life” support and information to parents, families, carers, individuals and professionals in relation to any aspect of supporting someone with Down’s syndrome. She also delivers teaching sessions and training for professionals in health, education and social care, provides a consultation service for educational and care professionals and delivers parent and carer workshops within her local areas. Prior to joining Down’s Syndrome Scotland Shona worked as the Team Leader in a day service which supported adults with both learning and physical disabilities, working closely with parents/carers and professionals to ensure the care provided was person centered and people were reaching their full potential and participating in activities that they enjoyed.
