University of Leicester/University
Joanne is a Bereavement Specialist Midwife with a passion for research. After qualifying with a first-class degree in Midwifery from De Montfort University, Joanne has practised in Leicester for over twelve years. Alongside her clinical practice, she has held CRN research midwife roles and worked on several portfolio studies within the award-winning research midwives’ team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. Joanne was the Clinical Advisor to the MBRRACE-UK Perinatal Confidential Enquiry Programme from 2016 to 2018.
Joanne commenced her PhD studentship at the University of Leicester in September 2018 and will be undertaking a project looking at the role of perinatal mortality investigations. Joanne will be exploring the implementation of the Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT), which has been developed by a collaboration led by MBRRACE-UK.
Joanne’s clinical and academic interests are driven by the principle that working in partnership with parents, other healthcare professionals, and local and national stakeholders, is key for improving care for bereaved parents affected by perinatal loss.
