CMV Action - Educate - Vaccinate - Eradicate
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a common infection that can infect people of all ages, usually with no long-term effects. However, it is very dangerous to unborn babies and is the most common infection passed from a pregnant woman to her baby. CMV causes more problems than Down’s, Spina Bifida and Cystic Fibrosis, yet few pregnant women and professionals have heard of it.
CMV Action is a small, but dynamic, UK registered charity raising public awareness of cCMV and campaigning for better prevention measures within our health service. We are firmly committed to limiting the devastating impact of this virus for those currently affected and for future generations.
Roche Diagnostics gives you The Power of Knowing that you're using accurate information to make the right decisions today, so your patients can experience a healthier tomorrow. The latest additions to this portfolio are Harmony non-invasive prenatal testing (formerly of Ariosa Diagnostics) and the sFlt/PlGF ratio test for the diagnosis and short term prediction of pre-eclampsia.

The Practising Midwife
The Practising Midwife is the leading journal for midwives and all health professionals connected with pre-conception care, pregnancy, birth and neonatal matters.
Times ahead are exciting as we have introduced new and challenging themes focused on supporting midwives in practice and we have now launched our breath taking new website (practisingmidwife.co.uk).
We retain our characteristic qualities, with regular advancing practice, midwifery basics, evidence series and pertinent articles, but you will find us at the forefront of innovation in the areas we cover. Our readers tell us that TPM is quite simply the best journal for staying informed in an eminently readable form.
A baby’s skin is much more delicate than your own, so it should be cleaned with only the gentlest and purest elements possible. Made with just two ingredients, 99.9% water and 0.1% fruit extract, WaterWipes are as pure as cotton wool and water but in the convenience of a wipe.
WaterWipes have been carefully designed to be gentle on babies’ sensitive skin. They are the only wipes that contain absolutely no chemicals, just 99.9% water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract – a natural skin conditioner.
They don’t irritate the skin; instead, they may help avoid nappy rash and other skin conditions. WaterWipes are the only baby wipe to ever be approved by Allergy UK.
Because of this, 97% of midwives believe that WaterWipes are suitable to be used on the skin of newborn babies.*
WaterWipes are the only baby wipe approved by Allergy UK and awarded the National Eczema Association of America’s Seal of Acceptance.

The IONA Test
The IONA® test is an advanced non-invasive prenatal screening test that helps midwives and other maternity healthcare professionals offer pregnant women peace of mind. The pioneering IONA® test estimates the risk of a fetus having Down’s syndrome or other serious genetic diseases and is developed by Premaitha Health, the leading UK based provider of NIPT. The IONA® test has a higher detection rate and lower false positive rate than existing screening tests, giving pregnant women, their families and their midwives greater confidence in the result and reducing the need for unnecessary invasive follow-up tests and the associated anxiety and stress.
Genesis Genetics now offers a Non Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) service to be performed in our CPA accredited labs in London. The Genesis Serenity prenatal test® uses the latest Illumina NIPT sequencing technology to provide extremely accurate results (>99.7%) using whole genome sequencing (WGS). The WGS approach has over 351K publications backing up this chosen method also proving the lowest test failure rates (<0.1%) compared to other NIPT technologies.
Being the first UK lab to run samples locally, we offer the reassurance that the data remains in the UK and is processed quickly (<5 days).

The charity fundraises to support ongoing research and raise awareness amongst health professionals and the public, to achieve its vision of ensuring that every ICP baby is born safely.
The International Journal of Birth and Parent Education (IJBPE)
The International Journal of Birth and Parent Education (IJBPE) was launched four years ago by Mary Nolan, Professor of Perinatal Education at the University of Worcester.
The Journal appears quarterly. It focuses on the critical 1000 days from conception to two years of age and aims to translate knowledge into practice for midwives, health visitors, psychologists, early years’ teachers and birth and parent educators. Practitioners and academics from across the world share their understandings of what babies and toddlers need to thrive, and how parents can be educated and supported to achieve the best outcomes for their children.
In the last two years, the IJBPE has entered into collaboration with the Association for Infant Mental Health (AIMH UK), and now offers a Best Practice Guidance supplement with alternate issues.
