Caroline Flint retired two years ago as a Practising Midwife after 37 years

1978 Community Midwife at Guy’s hospital published a “Continuing Labour of Love” describing a Team of four midwives able to get to know the women they cared for

1982 Antenatal Clinic sister at St Georges

Caroline got a Research Grant from the Regional Health Authority to set up a randomised controlled trial of women looked after by the Know Your Midwife Team and the RCT started in 1983

1986 Caroline became the first Consultant Midwife to set up continuity at Westminster Hospital then she became an Independent Midwife and set up a Practice which had the first  Birth Centre.

RCM Council member for 17 years and President of the RCM.

Published 6 books – the first was Sensitive Midwifery and the last DO Birth.

Caroline is now a member of her local MSLC, she is a Trustee for the NCT.
