Research Development & Innovation Midwife
University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust
Angela Polanco is currently a research midwife at UHCW NHS Trust. Specialising in miscarriage research and led by Professor Siobhan Quenby, the unit undertakes clinical trials exploring issues in early pregnancy, pre-term birth and childbirth. Previous to this Angela worked as a clinical midwife on the labour ward for 8 years.
She has recently developed a patient and public research advisory group, Patients Involved in Pregnancy Research (PIPR) and has been working to establish effective collaboration and partnership between patients and professionals in research design and delivery in the trust.
She has just completed the Interdisciplinary Non-medic Clinical Academic Programme (INCA) ran by Coventry University and has been accepted onto the Masters by Research programme to commence in September 2016. Her project will look into potential risks of women with a history of childhood cancer in pregnancy and birth with the hope to develop a pregnancy care pathway for this complex and specialised group of women.
