The Nursing and Midwifery Council is reshaping the future of midwifery education in the UK. Following a period of engagement with midwives across the UK, February 2019 will see the start of the NMC’s Future Midwife consultation on these new standards.
We are delighted that Professor Mary Renfrew FRSE, Lead Advisor to the Nursing and Midwifery Council for the review of pre-registration midwifery standards, will be joining us at the London Maternity and Midwifery Festival 2019 to invite healthcare professionals from around the UK to contribute to this consultation process.
Join us at the London Maternity and Midwifery Festival to hear Professor Renfrew’s presentation on The Future Midwife – how you can contribute to the consultation on the new NMC standards and make your voice heard.
“Our Midwifery Team at Cardiff University have been delighted to engage with the Festival as we have met and discussed education with so many great midwives, students and potential students! Having a stand in the exhibition hall was excellent as we engaged with the real ‘buzz’ that is always generated when midwives get together! Our students were so proud to have posters accepted for presentation and we also shared best practice through oral presentations. The keynote presentations were inspiring and prompted excellent discussion. Winning the Team Award was the highlight too! Well worth being a part of a great event – thanks!” Lead Midwife for Education, Cardiff University
The first in our 2019 series of 5 regional and national festivals will be taking place at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel, Kensington – a new and bigger home to reflect the growing demand for places both from healthcare professionals wanting to take advantage of a top quality, professional programme and organisations looking to showcase their products and campaigns to our influential audience.
London 2018 saw over 1700 maternity and midwifery professionals and aspiring midwives come together to attend the first London Maternity and Midwifery Festival or to watch the live stream.
“Excellent! Such a fantastic turnout – so many midwives” Deputy Head of Maternity, NHS England
After the Festival, every delegate receives, free of charge, the full box set of films and podcasts from the day – over 10 hours of professional content to inform their practice and learning.
Our 2019 events will build on the success of this year’s festivals, making them more inclusive than ever, with new studio streams for neonatal and practice nurses, health visitors and paediatric nurses.
