Dr Jenny Myers is a Clinical Senior Lecturer within the Maternal & Fetal Health Research Centre, University of Manchester and Consultant Obstetrician, St Mary’s Hospital. As an obstetrician, Jenny works on the labour ward of this busy tertiary unit (>9000 deliveries p.a.), leads the diabetic, renal and hypertension service and runs a research clinic (MAViS: Manchester Antenatal Vascular Service) which provides additional surveillance and support for women with chronic vascular disease. Jenny chairs the North West Region Pre-eclampsia Guideline group and provides regular multidisciplinary teaching related to the management of hypertension in pregnancy.
Jenny has a long-standing research interest in hypertensive disease in pregnancy and since completion of her PhD in 2005, has led several basic science, translational and clinical research studies in this area. She currently holds an NIHR Clinician Scientist Fellowship which funds a programme of research related to the management of chronic hypertension in pregnancy including a large observational cohort study and several clinical intervention studies. Jenny is a Specialist Editor for Plos Medicine and has contributed to several NICE committees relevant to the management of hypertension and high risk intrapartum care.
