Midwifery Advocate for Quality

Jillian Ireland is a full time midwifery advocate for quality at Poole NHS Hospital Foundation Trust (a new title for a Supervisor of Midwives). She has worked as a midwife; lecturer and researcher in various locations: Aberdeen, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Nepal (Iolanthe Award 2012; RCM Global Midwifery Twinning Project 2013; BU THET Maternal Mental Health Project 2016). She is a member of the visiting faculty at Bournemouth University and has worked most recently in a team for ‘Birthrights’ exploring the human rights and dignity experiences of disabled women using maternity services.
