Cambridge University Hospitals Foundation Trust
My professional background in the NHS has been in both nursing and midwifery, which began in the NHS in 1978. I have seen, been part of and developed many changes over the years but my passion is improving quality of care for women, their babies and families.
I was appointed Consultant Midwife at The Rosie, Addenbrookes, Cambridge in April 2010. This is a unique role both within the East of England and nationally. Locally, I have a high strategic and a clinical leadership role and nationally I am an active member of the RCM Consultant Midwife Forum.
An important part of my remit is developing a culture of normalising birth, improving quality, choice and safe care for mothers and their babies. I have developed and delivered a 10 bedded Birth Centre, which has realised a 100% increase of normal births, which we are all very proud of.
