Eva Eneso Ikuga

Maternity Champion Volunteer

Old Oak Housing

When Eva Eneso-Ikuga arrived in the UK from Barcelona she spoke very little English. Within a couple of years her English was fluent and her first job age 15 was working for herself as a translator and interpreter. She later moved into Family Support work. In April 2016 Eva saw a poster at a local Children’s Centre advertising for local mums to be coming Maternity Champions and soon became a volunteer. Eva is a local mum well-known in her community and has been able to signpost hard-to-reach new parents to access local services. She did NCT Birth and Beyond training and breastfeeding peer supporter. Eva now also works as part-time administrator to the project, but still volunteers as a lead Maternity Champion continuing to support her community making a difference to new parents.
